Tescan Clara is a high-resolution (< 1 nm) scanning electron microscope. In addition to regular SEM imaging, the system allows for EDS and EBSD analyses. Non-conductive samples or samples with limited vacuum stability can be examined in a low vacuum mode. The SEM can contain an in situ nanoindenter and an in situ tensile module for mechanical testing. The SEM is directly connected to a glovebox which offers the possibility to examine air-sensitive samples without prior air exposure during the sample installation. Examples for possible samples include metals, ceramics, polymers and coating systems. Examinations have also been performed on liquids and biological material.
