The JEOL JSM-IT800(HL) SEM is equipped with an Octane Elect EDS system from EDAX, a soft X-ray Spectrometer (SXES) SS-94000 from JEOL, and an InLux/Virsa Raman/cathodoluminescence spectrometer from Renishaw. These spectrometers allow the co-localized analysis inside the SEM. Classic EDS (with windows) are limited to elements above Z = 4. The combination of the BSE from Gatan and EDS from EDAX enables the method of Österreicher et al. to quantify Li in the SEM by the composition-by-difference method (Li-CDM).
